Have your say in what our name will be! Hackney Chinese Community Services are looking for word submissions from the ESEA community in the UK to help build a name that better reflects the community we serve.
Submit 3 words in English or ESEA language/dialect that means 'home' or 'community' to you. They can be nouns, adjectives, or verbs. It could be a place, a feeling, an object. We encourage you to ask family and friends not from your generation and include them in your submission to get as many voices included as possible.
6 words will be chosen by our judging panel of creatives and HCCS management and the shortlisted 3 will be given seats at a lip-smacking ESEA supper club held at the centre in October!
Submit your words by posting a photo or video with the 3 words and why you have chosen them and tag Hackney Chinese Community Services (and besea.n?) on Instagram, Twitter or Facebook. You can also email your submission to wordshccs@gmail.com. Winners will be announced on Thursday 14 October 2021.
The competition is open 1 September 2021 to 6pm on 30 September 2021 as part of besea.n’s ESEA Heritage Month.
