Join us for the launch of our ESEA Online Community Hub!

The hub is born from the research project Responding to COVID-19 Anti-Asian Racial Violence through Community Care, Solidarity and Resistance, led by Dr Diana Yeh and funded by Resourcing Racial Justice and the SASS Higher Education Innovation Fund, City, University of London. The project asks:

  • What is the experience of COVID-related racial violence for ESEA communities in the UK?

  • How have ESEA communities responded to this racial violence? What role can communities play?

  • How can ESEAs work with other racial minorities to achieve racial justice for all?

About the Event

In this event, we will introduce the project and present our vision for the online hub. We will hear from the web development team, Ghost & John, about their design process and journey. We will also hear from some of the key community organisations/collectives about the important work they’ve been doing in response to COVID-19 racisms and the projects lined up in partnership with us:

  • Asia Art Activism

  • Breakwater

  • Daikon

  • Hackney Chinese Community Services

  • Moongate Productions

  • Southeast and East Asian Community Centre

  • End the Virus of Racism

There will be a Q&A towards the end of the session.

Call for Contributions

More than anything, the online hub intends to benefit ESEA communities by holding space to bear witness to and document our lived experiences of racism and to empower ourselves through the sharing of diverse strategies of care, solidarity and resistance. We are inviting ESEA community members – individuals, artists, activists, community organisers and academics – to contribute thoughts, stories, resources, artwork, or any other submissions across a range of formats (blogs, audio, visual, video, social media etc) to build a sense of a shared history and anti-racist struggle.
